Most people at one time or another in their driving lives will get a speeding ticket forone reason or another. A lot of individuals will take these tickets and pay it. Some like not having your drivers license on you or having a license plate that is out of date really can’t be fought with any kind of defense or strategy. But then there are speeding violation defense strategies that can be utilized for certain traffic citations.

One of the more common defense strategies is that you as the driver were not in the know of the violation that you were cited for. Bad weather will sometimes blow down road signs, yield signs, and speeding limit signs. Sometimes individuals will vandalize and spray paint over a speed limit or could even take the sign. Your defense in this case is that you were unaware of what traffic statute that you violated because the city didn’t have the signs posted the proper way. If this happens to you, be sure to get picture or video evidence as soon as you can to defend yourself.

Another defense strategy is to look up the traffic ticket in your local area. For the most part there are different key points that must be demonstrated and a few guidelines for the officer. Look at each one of these and determine if everything was followed correctly and if each can be proved in traffic court. If you find a blemish with just a single one of these, that can be the defense strategy.

One other defense strategy is to ask about the believability of the radar devices that were utilized to track the velocity if it’s a speeding offense. These radar devices have to be tested and have documentation at specified times. If this documentation is not up to date, you can use this to get out of the ticket as the readings are considered unreliable at that point.

Do not be apprehensive to come up with a defense strategy because the reality is that a lot of times violations that are contested in court can win or at least get a reduced fine.
